Symposia
Every two years, the National Wetland Trust organises a gathering of community groups, landowners, iwi, scientists, wetland managers and students who are interested in sharing and learning about wetland restoration. Usually spread over three days, the symposia include field trips, practical training opportunities, soapbox sessions and presentations from a wide range of enthusiasts and professionals.
In 2020 we teamed up with DOC, ECan, NZ Freshwater Science Society and others to host the first ever INTECOL (International Ecology Wetland) Conference in NZ.
Our 2018 symposium was held in Napier from 26-28 September, at the Napier War Memorial Conference Centre. The theme was Living Wetlands in the Living Landscape. Keynote speakers included Conservation Minister Eugenie Sage, renowned Australian ecologist Matt Herring and Fish and Game CEO Martin Taylor.
