Volunteer

New Zealand has a large number of community organisations working for wetlands up and down the country. Find a group near you on Nature Space and see if you can help out.

The National Wetland Trust also works with community groups, local schools and landowners, corporates, local government and others to protect and restore wetlands.

We have a strong and growing volunteer support base doing a wide range of activities such as helping run events, pest eradication, and fauna reintroduction and monitoring programmes at Rotopiko/Lake Serpentine.

Our volunteers:

  • gain new skills
  • make new friends
  • improve their physical and mental well-being
  • know they are helping nature
  • build strong connections to their local environment.

We welcome support from all comers .

We also provide internships for young people seeking research opportunities or industry experience.
